Natural Indigo – Qing Dai – Indigo Naturalis

Indigo Naturalis is also referred to as Natural Indigo or Qing Dai.

Natural Indigo has effects on liver, lung and the stomach. This herb often clears fever, detoxifies blood, cool blood and removes ecchymoses. Indigo Naturalis has similar affects as the natural herb, Isatis leaf.Natural indigo is known to have a salty flavor and cold in nature. Indigo naturalis is normally given in dosages or 1.5 grams to 3 grams. Natural Indigo is difficult to dissolve in water and is normally found in pill or powder format. Natural Indigo in the form of quantum satis is normally used for external. This natural healer is known to improve, “syndromes of the warm and heat invasion of ying system and masculas and eruptions with high fever. It is good at purging the liver-fire to arrest convulsion and curing infantile acute convulsion.”

Indigo Naturalis can be used to reducing fever, detoxicating, removing heat from blood, removing ecchymoses, improving liver function and stopping or easing mild convulsions.

Indigo naturalis assists in high fever, muscle spasms, it is used in combination with the heat cleansing and blood cooling drugs. Indigo Naturalis is simular to rhinoceros horn, scrophularia root and gypsum. This natural herb can also be used in reducing bleading due to blood heat, “hema-temesis and epistasis, it is used with the blood-cooling drugs and hemostatics, such as rehmannia root and moutan bark.”

Natural indigo can also help with soar throats, mouth canker sores, ulcers, reducing swelling and pain of measles. Qing Dai or Indigo Naturalis is also sometimes combination with honeysuckle flower, scutellaria root and scrophularia root, for reducing fever or detoxing.

Indigo Naturalis is shown to help with acute convulsions and high fever, epilepsy provoked by fear and chronic convulsions. This natural medication can also be used in combination with the drugs to reduce liver pain and helping with gas. The herbs normally combined for these aflictions are cow-bezoare and uncaria stem with hooks.
